Non-traditional Anniversary Gift Ideas

My husband and I have a fun tradition we started on our first anniversary. We keep a journal where we document what happened over the past year - like if one of us got a new job or took up a new hobby - as well as where we live, what cars we drive, where we work, what pets we have and how we celebrated our anniversary (including a picture). 

Then, we choose some future date like our 18th anniversary and predict where we'll be then - where will we live & work, what will we drive, where we'll celebrate, what pets we'll have, how many children we'll have - that sort of thing. We look forward to reading our predictions when we reach each future anniversary. And, in the far future, we know it will be fun to look back on how things used to be.

These days, Many young and modern couples don't adhere to tradition when buying anniversary gifts. I certainly don't! It can be fun to think outside the box and get something that represents any milestones or adventures you encountered during your past year of marriage.
